Young Audiences New York - Using the Arts to Create Opportunities
Last week, as part of their National Arts for Learning Week, Young Audiences New York convened a cross-disciplinary panel discussion focused on arts and what and closing the opportunity gaps faced by youth growing up in poverty.
One of the panelists was our Executive Director Alison Overseth who talked about the role afterschool programs can play in closing that gap. The panel, moderated by Christine Salerno, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility for Marsh and McClennan and Companies, also included representatives from the Center for An Urban Future, Cypress Hills Community Development Corporation, and Cooper Hewitt National Design Museum.
