PS 87 Afterschool Program

On Wednesday, January 28, 2009, the PASEsetter Awards event gathered more than 400 afterschool supporters – including leaders from the corporate, academic, political, and philanthropic sectors – to help PASE celebrate the difference afterschool programs make in the lives of the city’s youth. The 2009 PASEsetter Awards took place at 6:30 p.m. at Pier 60, Chelsea Piers, in Manhattan.

Every year, PASE recognizes the best and brightest of New York City’s youth development professionals. Chosen from hundreds of nominations, the five PASEsetter Award Winners exemplify the dedication, innovation, and accomplishment that is the hallmark of the New York City afterschool field.

In addition to being honored at the annual gala event, each PASEsetter winner receives a $5,000 award for her or his agency, a crystal award, and recognition in the PASE newsletter and on the web site.

This year, PASE was also thrilled to honor Ken deRegt as our 2009 Afterschool Champion. A leader in both the corporate and philanthropic sectors, Ken is committed to supporting and sharing the power of afterschool education and ensuring that New York City’s youth have access to high quality experiences in out of school time. His contributions to PASE and the field of afterschool education in New York City over the past decade have made a difference in the lives of thousands of young people. In addition to being a long-time PASE supporter and Board member, Ken is the Chief Risk Officer for Morgan Stanley, and serves on the Board of Eagle Hill School, a private school in Connecticut that serves young people with learning disabilities.

Your support of this important event allows PASE to help the afterschool field improve the lives of more than 500,000 young people every day.
