Dealing with Behavioral Challenges Through a New Lens

June 03, 2024 10:00 am to 11:30 am

A workshop for DYCD funded organizations

In order to register for this event you need to create an account or first.

Join this online session to learn practical strategies to address behavioral challenges. Being disability inclusive takes intentional work to ensure that ALL are successful. But we recognize some children may be more challenging and may require a different mindset and strategies to set them up for successful participation in your afterschool program. From working with families and tips for an effective intake process, to staff training and strategies on dealing with challenging behaviors, attendees will leave with the tools and confidence to reduce (or even better ELIMINATE) suspension practices within your afterschool and summer programs. Wrap up the session with a demonstration on the difference between a meltdown and a tantrum, and approaches to deal with each of these situations, yielding a more successful outcome for both the participant and the afterschool staff.

This workshop is intended for DYCD funded organizations. This professional development opportunity is provided at no cost to you but has a value of $230 for DYCD. If you register for and are subsequently unable to attend this session you are responsible for cancelling your registration or risk being waitlisted for future events.
