STEM in Afterschool Series: STEM and Social-Emotional Learning

While STEM education includes learning technical knowledge related to science, technology, engineering, and math, it also includes learning how to collaborate, problem-solve, and think creatively.

Social-emotional learning is how youth understand and manage emotions, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Afterschool programming that thoughtfully aligns STEM education and SEL skill development can positively advance youth growth and development. In this online session, afterschool educators will learn how to integrate teaching strategies that support youth participants' development of leadership skills, a sense of responsibility, and critical interpersonal skills.

STEM in Afterschool is a multi-session workshop series designed to equip afterschool program staff with the knowledge, tools, and resources to strengthen the planning and delivery of high-quality STEM activities in out-of-school time settings.
