About New York Junior Tennis & Learning:
The New York Junior Tennis and Learning (NYJTL) is one of the largest after school tennis and education -
themed community organizations that offers comprehensive school and community-based programs throughout New York City’s five boroughs. NYJTL afterschool programs provides children with a safe and nurturing environment where they can thrive academically while receiving critical support to reach their potential both on and off the tennis court. The afterschool program operates in elementary, middle school and high school.

Position Summary:
NYJTL seeks an experienced professional to become its first Deputy Director of School -Based Operations.
This individual will assist with overseeing the delivery of after -school programs while ensuring that the
agency meets the compliance and quality standards established by the program’s primary funder, the
Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), and other partners. Reporting to the Director
of School-Based Operations, the Deputy will serve as a liaison between site-based staff and department
leadership.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal and written/spoken communication skills.
• Master’s degree in education, social work, or similar field.
• 5+ years professional experience in youth development.
• Knowledge of DYCD contractual, budgetary, regulatory requirements a must.
• Prior supervisory role as Program Manager or equivalent a plus.
• Hands-on approach to work execution.

Duties

• Supervise, evaluate, recruit, and train a corps of program managers, ensuring the adequacy and
quality of site-wide programming, protocols, and standards.
• Maintain key statistics pertaining to programs – youth attendance, staffing ratios, outcomes.
• Design career enhancement plans for site-based line staff (Site Directors, Group Leaders)
• Support Director with contractual/budgetary analysis and spending plans.
• Attend meetings involving Department of Education, Department of Health, DYCD, and other school
community partners.
• Assist with the design of academic and enrichment activities.
• Conduct site visits on a rotating basis.
• Monitor vacancies, turnover, new hires; address action plans with Human Resources department.
