About Fresh Youth Initiatives (FYI):
FYI is a dynamic community-based organization that offers immigrant and first-generation youth the tools, supports, and caring relationships that enable them to navigate transitions, connect to their community, flourish in school, and get on track to college and career. Founded in 1993, FYI runs programs across five sites in Washington Heights/Inwood where 1,300 children participate in after school programs, summer camps, service learning, advisory, and mental health services. FYI stabilizes fragile families through food relief, social services, and mental health counseling.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or college students in relevant fields of study
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Spanish/English bilingual, a plus
  • Experience planning and facilitating groups with children or teens
  • At least one year of experience working with elementary or middle school-aged children.

Duties

DEPARTMENT: Afterschool Program SUPERVISOR: Site Director
This is a part-time position between 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. (or longer in some instances), from September through June. Group leaders work in either our elementary or middle school after-school programs. We are seeking candidates who are interested in careers in education, social work, or related careers, who are enthusiastic and caring, and who will appreciate extensive staff professional development and support. Group leaders help to sustain a positive, caring organizational culture.

    Competitive hourly rate of pay ($18.00-$22.00 per hour) based on education and experience; paid sick days and vacation days.
