Summary

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and CareerReady Work, Learn & Grow (WLG) are year-round programs that provide young people with paid job experiences, career exploration, and professional development opportunities.  In addition to worksite placements, the program also offers college and career readiness support through our partner high schools, helping students build the skills, confidence, and networks they need to succeed after graduation. Together, we’re preparing the next generation of leaders for success in the workforce, college, and beyond.

Location: 665 West 182nd Street New York, NY 

Status:  Full Time, non-exempt 

Schedule: 9am-5pm/10am-6pm; hours may stagger + additional hours may be required

Qualifications

  • An associate degree in a related field, or a minimum of three years of related experience without formal education. Bachelor's preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Youth Services; 2 years of minimum supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Duties

  • Responsible for on-site, day-to-day supervision of programs, services, and activities funded directly through SYEP.
  • Act as liaison to worksites.
  • Work with the SYEP Program Director to ensure prompt and accurate submission of enrollment, payroll, and evaluations of SYEP participants.
  • Develop service learning base projects and provide career coaching and counseling. 
  • Supervise Administrative Assistant, Training Monitors, Site Supervisors, and Work Readiness Facilitator and SYEP participants assigned to the SYEP office.
  • Monitor SYEP activities, including recruitment, registration, and collection of documentation, orientation, payroll, and program implementation.
  • Developing relationships and creating work sites, work in the youth workforce development.
  • Provide Career Coaching and counseling.
  • Implement project-based learning experiences.
  • Facilitate the participant payroll orientation.
  • Co-facilitate weekly staff meetings.
  • Conduct weekly individual supervisory meetings with staff.
  • Monitor and review incident reports and inform DYCD of all incidents.
  • Responsible for monitoring the staff attendance sheets and signing them at the end of the pay period.
  • Participate in the DYCD SYEP Program Director's meeting.
  • Responsible for the evaluations of all staff at the end of the program.
  • Responsible for the success of positive and innovative service delivery.
