Preventing College Plans from Melting Away

In a research brief, Preventing College Plans from Melting Away, the National Summer Learning Association spoke with researchers Benjamin Castleman, University of Virginia, and Lindsay Page, University of Pittsburgh, to learn about the challenge of “summer melt,” and what can be done to prevent it. The researchers discuss challenges accepted students must navigate to transition to college, melt prevention activities that they tested, and provide information that policymakers and practitioners need to know about preventing summer melt and improving college-going rates among low-income students.
