Winning Beginning NY is hosting an advocacy day on February 9, 2016 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm in Albany, NY. Winning Beginning NY is a statewide coalition working to inform policymakers and the public about the many benefits of early care and learning for children from the prenatal period through age eight. The advocacy day will be an opportunity to help legislators and the NY Governor understand that a strong child care system is essential to delivering high-quality Pre-K and that greater investment is needed. The deadline to register is February 5, 2016.

On February 10, 2016 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm ET, American Youth Policy Forum is hosting a webinar, Career Pathways: From Ideas to Action, Tools for States. The webinar will describe the value of career pathway systems, showcase leading state and district examples, and introduce the College and Career Readiness and Success (CCRS) Center’s new Career Pathways Modules which provide tools and resources for the development and implementation of a career pathways system.

Project Reach is hosting a 2-day Anti-Discrimination Clinic on February 9 - 10, 2016 from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm at the Steelcase WorkLife Center in Manhattan. The interactive, participant-centered clinic is an anti-discrimination training for communities and schools facing bullying/identity destruction, inter-group conflict, and community disempowerment, but who are committed to ending discrimination and injustice. In collaboration with NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development’s Partnership Schools Program, the Educational Video Center (EVC) is hosting a series of ten workshops designed to promote youth and community voices in school settings. The series will take place on consecutive Thursdays beginning on February 25, 2016 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at NYU and provides participants with tools and techniques to employ culturally responsive teaching practices that meet the diverse needs of their students. Each workshop will focus on a critical theme or problem in students' lives and will include discussion of an EVC film with an expert in the field and an EVC youth producer. The second half of each workshop will be dedicated to developing student-led lessons and activities to be implemented at participants’ schools. To learn more and register, visit the EVC website.
