IN MY WORDS: Spring Break Arts Intensive for Young Women in the Bronx

IN MY WORDS is a free, week-long, intensive arts workshop offered by New Settlement Apartments' program for girls and young women, ages 13 - 18, in the South Bronx, incorporating music, poetry, art, storytelling and filmmaking. The program meets April 2 - April 7, 2018 at 1525 Townsend Avenue, Bronx, NY 10452 and includes a two-night artist retreat in Carmel, NY. It culminates with a live performance or original work on April 7, 2018. Application deadline is March 2, 2018. Space is limited. Apply Now! BCAPteen Mini-internship!

Brooklyn Public Library's BCAPteen is a two-week, summer mini-internship blending digital media and communications, personal and professional skills, and the creative arts through the lens of photojournalism. BCAPteens will learn about photography, complete visual storytelling assignments, develop an independent project, and create an online portfolio. Participants document the BCAP Summer Camp program and theme, and share this story through multiple forms of media. BCAPteen interns earn a stipend and volunteer hours, while building skills, expressing their creative interests, and having fun. Applications due March 15, 2018.

28th Annual Latino College Expo & Leadership Summit

The 28th Annual Latino College Expo & Leadership Summit takes place March 17, 2018 at the Kimmel Center of New York University. The event brings together over 75 public and private colleges, universities, and community based organizations and offers seminar sessions for students, parents, guardians, and counselors. The College Prep and Leadership Seminar runs from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, followed by the College Fair until 3:00 pm. Download a flyer. Register to attend.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program Application

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Young Scholars Program offers a unique pre-college scholarship and advising program to high-achieving students. From 8th grade through high school, Cooke Young Scholars join a community of ambitious peers and receive academic and college counseling, financial support for academic and extracurricular enrichment, and a pathway to college success. The application is open to 7th grade students through March 21, 2018.
