2024 NYC Youth Agenda

Each year, the NYC Youth Agenda Steering Committee develops their annual Youth Agenda and policy recommendations by analyzing the Youth Ask Youth survey results, hosting policy generation events, and engaging in conversations with youth from all over New York City. On April 15, 2024, they will present the 2024 NYC Youth Agenda which includes their findings and policy recommendations in the areas of: mental health, environmental justice, housing security, education equity, and economic mobility. Race & Education | A Conversation on Stay and Prevail: Students of Color Don’t Need to Leave Their Communities to Succeed

Students of color from low-income backgrounds are often told they must leave their communities to find success. This ‘leave to succeed’ mindset poses a significant threat to students’ identities, prompting unsettling questions. Queens World Film Festival

The 13th Annual Queens World Film Festival is set to run at the Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios, from April 16, 2024 - April 28, 2024. The festival will feature 152 films from 19 nations, with 67 films from metro New York, including films from all 5 Boroughs. The festival is curated in thematic blocs with films grouped together for specific cinematic experiences, guaranteeing that they have something for everyone. Check out the films or the blocs. Go For Broke: Visions of New Solidarities

Join the CUNY SPS Youth Studies community on April 4, 2024, at 6:30pm for a radical community dialogue grounded in Elizabeth Bishop’s recent book, Whiting Out: Writing on Vulnerability, Racism and Repair. The evening features scholar-activists Wendy Barrales, Damaris Dunn, and CUNY SPS Academic Director of Youth Studies, Sarah Zeller-Berkman, in conversation with Dr. Bishop, for a dynamic discussion on critical youth development. DYCD Community Moms & Dads 2024

The NYC Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) invites you to join them in honoring moms and dads this June by nominating a "Community Mom" or “Community Dad” for their award. This award recognizes community moms and dads—whether volunteers, mentors, teachers, community leaders, healthcare staff, essential workers, caregivers, aunts, uncles, sisters, or brothers — who dedicate their time and energy to the physical, social, and emotional well-being of the city. The deadline to submit a nomination is March 13, 2024.
