Five4Five Films 5th Annual Film Festival

Join Five4Five Films for their 5th Annual Film Festival on Thursday, June 13, 2024 from 4:00PM-6:30PM at The Forum @ Columbia University (605 West 125th Street)! This free, festive event features a red carpet, food, live music, and original short films, including original short films from Five4Five Films students across the Bronx, Manhattan, and Brooklyn. This is a great way to kick-off summer and support local middle and high school filmmakers. RSVP today before tickets sell out!

45th Annual Summer Writing Workshop for NYC Teens

Calling NYC youth aged 15-20 to join Youth Communication’s 45th annual summer writing workshop, which will focus on community and identity. The cohort of 12 chosen applicants will participate in writing lessons, discussions, and group activities from July 8, 2024 to August 15, 2024. Guest speakers and field trips will also deepen students' understanding of the theme. Participants will earn a $2,000 stipend for completing a publishable story and will receive a daily MetroCard to support the commute. Apply by May 6, 2024

Summer 2024 Tech Scholars Programs

The New York Historical Society is accepting applications for three in-person Summer 2024 Tech Scholars Programs, offering high school students in grades 10-12 a chance to delve into digital humanities. These programs focus on student-led projects and allow youth to develop their digital media skills while meeting with professional staff to learn about the museum, digital humanities, history, and tech fields. This summer’s offerings include game design (July 15, 2024-July 19, 2024), web design (July 22, 2024-July 26, 2024), and podcasting (August 12, 2024 – August 16, 2024). Summer Pay-What-You-Can Creative Writing Workshops!

Uptown Stories is hosting a summer workshop series where participants can meet new friends, explore the outdoors, and develop their writing skills. Uptown Stories offers a variety of program options throughout July 2024 and August 2024, so you can immerse yourself in workshops like fiction, comics, poetry, and animation. Each workshop takes place daily for 1-2 weeks, and all workshops are pay-what-you-can for all families, no proof of income is required.  Register online to secure your spot today--spaces fill up quickly.

Submit your short documentary to DocuJam!

DocuJam is a unique international youth documentary showcase presented by Downtown Community Television Center in association with the Paley Center in New York. DocuJam seeks outstanding documentaries produced by young people across the globe, ages 22 and younger. Submissions must be a short documentary film (non-fiction) that presents a viewpoint on a specific story or issue to qualify. Submit your film by this summer – the early bird deadline is June 28, 2024 and all submissions are due by August 9, 2024
