Partnership for After School Education

AfterSchool KidzLit®, a project of the Center for the Collaborative Classroom, is an innovative approach to using children’s literature with children participating in afterschool programs.

The KidzLit® curriculum (grades K–8), available at www.collaborativeclassroom.org, helps children become better and more motivated readers while helping them improve their understanding of themselves and others using a diverse selection of children’s books.

In this introductory workshop, participants will learn strategies for combining reading aloud and partner reading with group discussions, art and other connection activities using curriculum guides that were created for each book. Participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the children’s books and curriculum guides developed for AfterSchool KidzLit®.
