Nearing the start of a new decade requires us to consider the opportunities and challenges facing our youth. How will the field of afterschool respond and innovate to ensure that our city’s kids have the resources and tools they need to thrive?

On July 23, 2019, the Partnership for After School Education convened over 240 executive directors and supervisors from youth-serving community-based agencies, funders, colleagues in higher education, policy makers, and educators at PASE’s annual conference – Framing Our Future: Emerging Trends and Opportunities for Afterschool – to explore that question and more, while highlighting the best practices and research that will sustain youth development in a changing era.

Held at Baruch College, the PASE conference gathered many of the brightest minds working to provide academic, social, and emotional support in afterschool programs. We heard electrifying insights from speakers and gained essential tools to help us support youth in reaching their goals and achieving their dreams.

A huge thanks to all conference presenters for leading amazing workshops! And a special thanks to speakers Fatima Shama, Executive Director, The Fresh Air Fund; Jonathan Bowles, Executive Director, Center for an Urban Future; Andy Rich, Dean, Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership at City College; Commissioner Bill Chong, NYC Department of Youth & Community Development; Ursula Helminski, Senior Vice President, External Affairs, Afterschool Alliance; Arva Rice, President & CEO, New York Urban League; and Assistant Commissioner Dr. Anael Alston, Office of Access, Equity & Community Engagement, New York State Education Department.

Thank you to everyone who attended to make this year’s conference a success! We hope that your experience will only further your impact on the communities you serve.
