Activating Youth Voice: Reimagining Power

October 09, 2025 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

This online session invites educators to reflect deeply on the difference between authentic youth voice and performative inclusion. Participants will examine the ways adultism, power dynamics, and institutional habits can unintentionally limit youth leadership.

In order to register for this event you need to or first.

Through a mix of guided reflection and youth-led facilitation, educators will map their own proximity to power, analyze real-world examples of adult-youth partnerships, and engage in scenarios where power is rebalanced. One of the most powerful moments of the session is a youth-led fishbowl where participants observe and reflect on young people’s lived experiences navigating tokenism in civic spaces. The session culminates in a self-assessment using YVote’s Youth Voice Support Spectrum, helping educators name where they are now and commit to specific strategies for creating more equitable, youth-powered environments.
