Spaces for Me: Creating Belonging & Community on College Campuses

December 09, 2025 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

A hallmark of adolescence is the emphasis on experiencing a sense of belonging amongst their peers and within the spaces they occupy. K-12 can offer a curated experience where a sense of belonging is held within a container that is facilitated by the adults in the building; however, transitioning into the college space can present as a culture shock for youth of color, especially those who are attending PWIs. In this workshop, participants will identify threats to a sense of belonging in these spaces, engage in activities to foster a sense of belonging, and create action plans to implement in their sites that encourage self- and community-advocacy on college campuses.
