AmeriCorps Afterschool Cohort Lead
Summary
We are looking for passionate individuals to serve as Afterschool Leads for the PlacemakingCorps opportunity at Concrete Safaris. In this role, you’ll guide children and/or youth through hands-on outdoor learning, lead team activities, and transform local spaces through placemaking initiatives. Build valuable leadership skills while inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards!
Different Service Options Below:
Starting: October 2026 - June 2027
Reduced Half - Time: Must complete 675 Hours. Annual Living Stipend: $8,087 (broken up every two weeks). Segal Educational Award $2,817.14 and a Concrete Safaris Scholarship $3,375. (Once service hours are complete).
Quarter Time position: Must complete 450 Hours. Annual Living Stipend $5,393 (broken up every two weeks) Segal Educational Award: $1,956.35 and a Concrete Safaris Scholarship $2,250 (Once service hours are complete).
Qualifications
This program is available to all:
- 17 yrs +, without regard to race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex, political affiliation, or, in most instances, religion.
- Must be currently enrolled in college / University.
- Must be will to service youth 7 to 12 yrs old.
- Must be willing to work outdoor in all weather conditions
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Duties
AmeriCorps members serve children and youth with outdoor, experiential education to build environmental, health, and placemaking skills during school, after school, and camp within public housing based gardens and on city streets. Apply learned citizenship to collaborate with neighbors and policy makers to create spaces for physical activity. Some places where activities occur may have been previously developed, and others may be expansions or new. As a result, young people will transform their worlds starting in their own backyards, and improve their healthy decision-making skills.
Members get outdoors, active, dirty, and sweaty in rain, shine, snow, wind, and other urban conditions.
