Uptown Stories and NYC Service are looking for passionate, life-long learners to serve and educate NYC youth! Apply to serve in Upper Manhattan with Uptown Stories as a Program Development Americorps Member or Volunteer Recruitment and Management Member!

‘25-26 Americorps members will serve a paid 10-month term with us, helping to build capacity at Uptown Stories and empower youth through our programming. Apply at the link on our careers tab and select Uptown Stories as your host site! Applications close end of September.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma Minimum.
  • Legal US Work Authorization required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Duties

Volunteer Management and Recruitment Member

The member will strengthen and sustain the network of volunteers, interns, board members, and advisory board members who support the operations of Uptown Stories. This role involves actively recruiting, screening, scheduling, and recognizing individuals dedicated to community service. The member will help build a strong foundation of support that empowers at-risk youth in Upper Manhattan and fosters lasting community connections.

Program Development Member

The member will play a key role in helping evaluate program outcomes from our direct service in the field of arts education, specifically creative writing, for children and early adolescents. Uptown Stories offers after-school creative writing programs, reaching students through both community-based classes and the grant-funded LEAPS initiative. This member will require additional onboarding and clearance through OFCS.
