Community School Coordinator

Summary

QCH is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Community School Coordinator to join our Community School team at the International High School for Health Sciences. This position is essential to promoting student success, enhancing family engagement, and strengthening the relationship between the school, families, and community-based resources.

The International High School for Health Sciences serves recently arrived immigrant students who are developing English proficiency while preparing for careers in healthcare, including medicine, nursing, and public health.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work, or a related field preferred (equivalent experience will be considered).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with youth and families, ideally in a high school or community-based setting.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to engage with diverse populations.
  • Reliable, punctual, and highly organized.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Tech-savvy and able to learn new systems and tools quickly.

Duties

  • Conduct regular outreach and follow-up with families to improve student attendance and engagement.
  • Administer comprehensive needs assessments for all students to identify necessary supports.
  • Provide case management and refer students and families to appropriate community resources.
  • Partner with the school’s Parent Coordinator to plan and implement family engagement events.
  • Foster strong, trusting relationships with families to support student achievement.
  • Organize at least four family learning workshops and four community celebrations annually.
  • Attend weekly Family Support Coordination meetings and share key information with school staff.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local service providers and community-based organizations.
  • Represent QCH at school events, including afterschool programs and parent/student activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with Department of Education staff and school leadership.
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with all stakeholders.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by the Community School Director.
