Summary
The Development Associate is responsible for supporting the organization's fundraising plan and creating and supporting fund development systems. The chief responsibly of this role is to leverage the legacy of the organization and track record of success to increase and diversify its funding base. This role reports directly to the President & CEO and works closely with other NYUL staff and consultants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years relevant experience.
- Highly organized, attention to detail and ability to organize and recall extensive information.
- Understanding of the fundraising / philanthropic environment in NYC.
- Superior written and oral communication skills.
- Proactive problem solver who demonstrates creative resourcefulness and tenacity.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Maintain a relentless pursuit of results with very high standards for performance and accountability.
- Strong project management skills. Able to balance multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Clearly articulates steps to achievement and effectively drives self and others to success.
- Experience building trusting relationships with people from diverse socio-economic, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
- Proven ability to develop and cultivate effective external relationships and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
Duties
- Work with President and CEO and Special Event Consultants to maintain regular interaction with donors. The Development Associate will develop systems to help increase revenues and build sustainable streams of funding from individuals, corporations and foundations, special events, and major gift campaigns.
- Assist in the development and submission of high-quality foundation and government proposals.
- Partner with program staff to develop and create opportunities to leverage outcomes that increase fundraising.
- Work with CEO to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of potential major gift donors.
- Assist in support, preparation, and strategic deployment of the Chief Executive Officer and BOD to seek financial gifts from key potential donors.
- Partner with consultants to execute annual fundraising gala and other fundraising events throughout the year.
- Ensure development and on-going maintenance of appropriate policies and practices for recording, monitoring, and reporting donor gifts in SalesForce.
- Develop and enhance partnerships with external stakeholders, including funders, community partners, and external agencies through disseminating materials and reports and scheduling meetings with CEO and NYUL board members.
