Partnerships Manager (full-time)

Summary

The Partnerships Manager oversees 826NYC’s school and community partnerships and programs. The Manager collaborates with the Director of Education across programs and with the Senior Programs Coordinator for field trips, and supervises a cohort of Teaching Artists. This role oversees Extended Day and Personal Statement partnerships with schools and partner organizations, manages outreach and communication to potential new partners, and supports Teaching Artists to ensure programs operate effectively, and remain mission-driven and true to 826NYC’s values and pedagogy. This role manages the calendar for the Write Together field trips program, which brings classes from NYC schools to the 826NYC center for one-time creative writing sessions. The Partnership Manager facilitates a limited number of programs throughout the year in the Extended Day and field trips programs to maintain a deep understanding of the program and better support Teaching Artists in their role. The Manager also oversees the creation of 826NYC’s Annual Review, which collects writing from across all programs from the previous year for a flagship publication each Fall, and the launch event for this publication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience in youth development
• Minimum of 3 years experience in education program development
• Minimum of 3 years experience working with a diverse group of youth ages 6-18
• Knowledge of current trends and issues in K-12 education, especially those related to New York City’s five boroughs
• Experience working with or in New York City public schools

• Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal
• Excellent organizational skills 
• Experience creating and teaching a writing-based curriculum for youth
• Experience supervising staff members and volunteers
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Skilled at managing collaborative, multi-step processes and projects
• Proficient with common computer applications — (e.g. Google Drive, Canva)
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills
• A deep passion and commitment to the mission of 826NYC

• Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin
• Experience teaching English Language Learners
• Experience working with neurodiverse youth and youth with learning differences
• Familiarity with the NYC DOE’s vendor systems
• Experience creating and managing contracts and MOUs
• Experience using Adobe InDesign, Salesforce, Monday, and Google Workspace tools

Duties

• Build and maintain relationships with K-12 education providers, including teachers, administrators, superintendents, researchers, and other youth serving organizations 
• Hire, on-board, train, and manage a team of 826NYC Teaching Artists who lead after-school programs, personal statement workshops, and professional development programs at schools and partner organizations, and serve as a subject matter expert to support their ongoing development
• Develop and maintain a robust outreach plan to bring 826NYC’s partnership programs to new schools and community organizations serving mission-aligned programs, with the goal of bringing these programs to at least 10 new sites within the first 18 months
• Manage the MOU and invoicing process with partner schools and organizations
• Conduct site visits to school- and community-based programs throughout the five boroughs of New York City to support Teaching Artists and ensure high quality programming
• Manage the logistics for Write Together field trips, including outreach to teachers, bookings, invoicing, and data collection
• Lead a limited amount of partnership programming each year, including Extended Day workshops at schools and workshops in the Write Together field trip program
• Work with Director of Education to administer and compile evaluation data to support the tracking of program effectiveness and student growth in writing and social emotional skills
• Work with Senior Volunteer & Programs Manager to train and manage program volunteers to assist with partnership programs
• Collaborate with Teaching Artists and 826NYC program staff to codify best practices and proposed usage for curriculum in center- and school-based programs
• Manage 826NYC’s curriculum bank for use across programs, and serve as curriculum expert in support of Teaching Artists
• Lead a team of teen interns and volunteer editors and designers to produce the 826NYC Annual Review each year, and plan an Annual Review launch event for students, educators, and families
• Participate in 826 National monthly programs calls to share resources and report out on best practices
• Participate in 826NYC events and meetings and support administrative and program staff as needed
