Groove With Me, Inc. is a youth development organization based in New York City, dedicated to empowering young women through free dance classes and performance opportunities. For over 28 years, we have been focused on building leadership, confidence, creativity, and discipline in young women, helping them to overcome daily challenges and thrive both personally and academically. Our program offers a safe, supportive space for self-expression, fostering positive choices and helping to prevent negative behaviors such as teen pregnancy, substance abuse, truancy, violence, and gang involvement.
Job Description:
Groove With Me, Inc. is seeking a passionate and dedicated Program Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of the programming department, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities within the dance studio, ensuring that our young participants, teachers, and parents receive the support they need. You will be instrumental in creating a safe and welcoming environment where young women can flourish, while also managing projects that enhance the overall program experience.
Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) - please don't apply if you are not fluent in Spanish.
- Previous experience in program management or coordination is an advantage.
- Experience working with children, ideally in a youth development or educational setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with youth, parents, and staff.
Duties
- Studio Oversight:
Supervise and support dance classes - Family and Community Engagement:
Serve as a liaison for families, addressing any concerns or needs
Get to know each child and their family, building strong, long-term relationships as part of our commitment to personalizing the experience for each participant. - Program Evaluation and Reporting:
Assist in tracking and evaluating student progress
Contribute to the development of program reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and opportunities for growth. - Event Coordination:
Organize and support small events and community engagement activities - Resource Guide Management:
Maintain and update a comprehensive resource guide for participants and families, ensuring it includes valuable information on services, opportunities, and resources that support the well-being of our youth. - Program Expansion Support:
As we plan to expand by adding 200 new children in the next two years, you will play a critical role in scaling our operations while maintaining the personalized, community-driven approach we are known for.
