Security Guard I (North Brooklyn YMCA)

Summary

The North Brooklyn YMCA is looking for a Security Guard who will be responsible The Security Guard is responsible for the security and safety of all participants in and around the branch. They will also deliver quality customer service to members and guests.  

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of related experience.
  • Knowledge of security and safety procedures.
  • Security Guard license preferred.
  • Sprinkler certification preferred.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, or AED certifications preferred.

Duties

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff by providing close supervision of the facility. Control access into the facility and exit ways.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health (DOH), Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD), NYCHA, and YMCA of Greater New York standards.
  • Adhere to and enforce the security policies at all times. Patrol the facility to detect all infractions of house rules and report issues to the proper authorities.
  • Maintain fire/safety logbooks in accordance with the facility requirements and ensure security logs include daily sign-in and sign-out sheets for all participants and visitors. Inspect all bags, packages, etc., leaving the premises as described in YMCA policies.
  • Participate as an active member of the fire brigade.
  • Effectively communicate information to participants and visitors.
  • Perform investigations and thoroughly document. Appropriately report and document all incidents/accidents immediately.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of participants, members, and guests by providing close supervision in hallways.
  • Be on time, in uniform, and prepared to work at the beginning of the shift.
  • Ensure the check-in area is always neat, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks when necessary.
