Summer Camp Staff - Bronx

Summary

The Summer Camp Staff member will provide a supportive function for one of our Bronx, 2025, Summer Day Camps in the role of either an Assistant Group Leader or Group Leader

Reports to: Program Director

Location: One of our Various Bronx Program Sites

Hours: 35 Hours/Week; Monday - Friday; Summer (July and August); Non-Exempt

Salary: $16.50 / HR (Assistant Group Leaders)

$17.50 - $18.50 / HR (Group Leaders)

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School Diploma / GED Preferred for Assistant Group Leaders,
  • Minimum High School Diploma / GED Required for Group Leaders.
    • Two years of college or a BA strongly preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience working with youth. At least 2 years required for Group Leaders.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to complete medical and DOHMH/DOE clearances and fingerprints.
  • Ability to work from the beginning to the end of Camp, Early July until Mid August (the exact end date depends on the assigned camp site)
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

Duties

1) Assistant Group Leader

  • Assist the Group Leader and Activity Instructors with activities, including sports, movement, and recreation, educational activities and arts and crafts.

2) Group Leader

  • Plan and facilitate integrated learning, recreational, arts and developmentally appropriate activities for youth.
  • Collaborate with and direct program aides.

3) All Staff

  • Complete required documentation.
  • Participate in training and staff development activities.
  • Demonstrate effective classroom management skills.
  • Ensure a safe and engaging group environment.

Application and Onboarding Timeline

February 27th: Summer Camp Application Opens (Rolling Admission)

March 10th Information Sessions & Pre-Screens will begin (Rolling Basis)

March 17th: Face-to-Face Interviews will begin (Rolling Basis)

April 3rd: Selected Candidates will be notified and scheduled for clearances (Rolling Basis)

May 23rd: Last Day to submit Application (May be placed on waitlist)

June 2nd/16th Trainings will begin for those who are cleared.

July 7th: Start of Summer Camp for those who are cleared.
