Who Gets to Graduate?

Paul Tough, author of How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity, and the Hidden Power of Character, gave the keynote address at our 2013 PASE@PACE Conference, speaking on the importance of character and the "soft skills" that are often learned outside of the classroom.

Deborah Lowe Vandell is a renowned researcher best known for her work in afterschool and child development, and Dean of the School of Education at UC Irvine. The Hechinger Report spoke to Vandell about her recent findings related to afterschool and the closer attention being placed by policymakers on extended learning and longer school days.
