America After 3PM: Afterschool Programs in Demand

The Afterschool Alliance recently released America After 3PM: Afterschool Programs in Demand, a report on a survey of parents and guardians nationwide that found a jump in reported participation in afterschool in the U.S. over the last decade. Approximately 18% of children nationwide took part in an afterschool program in 2014 — equivalent to about 10.2 million children, and compared to 15% in 2009 and 11% in 2004. At the same time, unmet demand for afterschool programming is large. The report also includes findings on summer learning programming. Read the full report, the key findings, or breakdowns in afterschool participation by state.
