Call for Youth Art – Current Issues in Out of School Time Book Series

The editors of the Current Issues in Out of School Time Book Series are seeking youth art for their upcoming publication, Resilient Futures: Addressing Collective Trauma and Marginalization in Out-of-School Time Spaces. Young artists and creatives ages 8-24 years old are invited to contribute art to this upcoming book focused on how youth have navigated the challenges of the past few years, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing fight for racial and social justice. The editorial team is looking for original art and media that speaks to the hopes, significant changes, and resilience that have shaped their generation. Formats can include: paintings, drawings, poetry, dance videos, photography, and other creative art forms. Potential themes include: strength, joy, and resilience in youth programs; the effect of dual pandemics on communities; challenges finding education and work opportunities after the pandemic; visions for a brighter future; and healing and growth through hard times. All submissions should be sent electronically to resilientfuturesostseries@gmail.com by August 29, 2025
