The Stanford Social Innovation Review featured an article from Goddard Riverside's OPTIONS Center, Equity Along the Paths to and Through College. The article discusses how OPTIONS is training college advisors, school counselors, volunteers, and members of community-based organizations to provide high-quality college advising.

2021 Summer Innovation Fellowship

National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) is launching a new Summer Innovation Fellowship for leaders of color which will offer $25,000 towards implementing an in-person, virtual or hybrid summer learning program. Winners will also receive a personal NSLA Coach to work with them regularly in their planning, access to NSLA tools, resources, and convenings to support their work, and mentoring opportunities with experienced role models and leaders in the field. Applicants should be sponsored by or apply in conjunction with a fiscal sponsor such as school district, nonprofit or government agency. To apply for this Fellowship, complete the online application by February 12, 2021.

College Completion Innovation Fund

Graduate NYC has announced the release of the College Completion Innovation Fund's (CCIF) 2021 Award Cycle application. The CCIF supports undergraduate colleges and nonprofit community-based organizations in implementing innovative programs that address the graduation challenges faced by low-income students, first-generation college-goers, students of color, and others who are traditionally underrepresented among college degree holders. Graduate NYC will continue to update the CCIF 2021 Award Cycle page with webinar links and materials you may refer to for CCIF application guidance. The initial application is due on February 8, 2021.

Remote DEI Toolkit

The Remote DEI Toolkit was created to explore the challenges and share insights around the intersections of remote culture and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work. Created by the Remote DEI Collective and led by The Learning Accelerator, the toolkit aims to surface the challenges of doing DEI work in remote environments while also offering strategies and resources created by the Collective to help mitigate these challenges.

Adobe Creative Educator

The Adobe Creative Educator program is a community program where participants will receive curated professional development materials, information about virtual and in-person events, and the opportunity to connect with like-minded educators from around the world. The program is for educators in every subject area and grade level. Enrollment is open through June 30, 2021.

Needs Assessment Survey for DYCD-Funded Organizations

As a collaborative of organizations, Support Center, Community Resource Exchange, ExpandED Schools, FMA, and Partnership for After School Education provide "capacity building" supports to many DYCD-funded organizations. They have released this survey to receive feedback from DYCD providers to determine where and how their supports can be most helpful. The deadline to complete the survey is November 18, 2020.

FAFSA: The How-To Guide for High School Students (And the Adults Who Help Them)

The Center for New York City Affairs has published the fall 2020 edition of their popular guide for high school students who are applying to college and beginning their all-important quest for financial aid: FAFSA: The How-To Guide for High School Students (And the Adults Who Help Them). The guide explains how the form works and confronts the often-confusing issues around citizenship and how the FAFSA defines parents and households. The guide also explains the FAFSA verification process and includes an extensive section on how to compare college financial aid offers.

Real As Me Partners

Youth Communication has been awarded a grant from the New York Community Trust to share their girls' empowerment program with schools and agencies. Real As Me contains 30 lessons, all based on true stories by young women. This program supports student engagement, development of social and emotional learning (SEL), reading fluency, and gender equity. They are seeking school and youth agency partners where they can train at least ten staff members who will use the program with at least 70 young women this school year. The Wallace Foundation has released a newly upgraded StrongNonprofits Toolkit. The site now contains more than 60 free tools, articles, reports and other resources to help nonprofit organizations improve their financial health. Resources include a nonprofit accounting guide, information on growth strategies, a podcast on how to understand the true cost of programming and much more.
