Guidance for Nonprofits Regarding Immigration Enforcement

New York Lawyers for the Public Interest and Lawyers Alliance for New York have issued an updated guidance to nonprofits outlining best practices for assisting and protecting immigrant clients amidst heightened immigration enforcement under the incoming second Trump administration. This guide provides practical advice on how to deal with specific scenarios and background on key issue areas, including: What happens if ICE comes to your nonprofit? How can nonprofits manage staff and clients during an immigration enforcement action? What should nonprofits do if they receive an ICE subpoena? Read the full guide on the NYLPI website. Please note: the information in this manual is for educational purposes only. It does not, and is not intended to, constitute legal advice. In addition, the manual was developed for use within New York City, meaning– some of the information included does not apply to people elsewhere.
