Train & Earn Program resources-for-youth

United Activities Unlimited's Train & Earn program provides contextualized career training, education guidance, work readiness skills development, internship, wrap around services for support, and a guaranteed job upon completion of the program. Their 14-week training program prepares youth ages 16-24 for a career in environmental services through classroom training, followed by a 6-week hands-on experience in a professional environment. Content Creation Lab

Global Nomads Group's Content Creation Lab was established in the summer of 2020 as a way to fill a need for young people to have quality, remote, internship experiences during a global pandemic. This semester-long internship brings a global group of middle, high school, and college-age interns together to develop curricular content around topics important to young people. Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation is accepting applications for its Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship, designed to help reduce financial barriers for talented community college students applying to selective colleges and universities. In addition to the financial award, selected students receive college planning guidance and ongoing advising throughout their college experience and early career. Students also benefit from joining a unique network of Cooke Scholars and Alumni. Applications will be accepted until January 10, 2022.

School's Out, Make it Count! Cover Art Contest

New York State Network for Youth Success is seeking submissions from afterschool participants to design the cover art for their Schools Out, Make it Count! 2022 conference brochure. They invite all individuals participating in New York State afterschool programs to submit artwork depicting "What Afterschool Means to Me." All artwork must be submitted by January 7, 2022.

The New Settlement Center Young Men's Initiative

The New Settlement Center Young Men's Initiative is a new program seeking young men of color, ages 15-19, living in New York City. They will be providing the next generation of young men with a range of unique and groundbreaking activities designed to empower them to become community leaders and critical thinkers. Their goals are to build an authentic community through open and honest conversations about issues facing the world today. Culinary Program

Queens Connect is offering training and certification through their culinary program for 18 - 24 year olds. The culinary program offers young adults 6-weeks of hands-on culinary training along with virtual workforce readiness classes. Enrolled participants also take the NYC Food Protection course in preparation for the NYC food protection exam. After the first 6-weeks of training, eligible participants are offered a 6-week paid internship in the culinary field and or the opportunity to transition into the retail training program. The next cohort will begin on December 13, 2021. All interested in joining or learning more are encouraged to join their weekly virtual open house on Tuesdays at 2:00 PM. New York Urban League 2021 College & Career Fair

The New York Urban League 2021 College & Career Fair will work to support students and community most recently impacted by the COVID-19 Pandemic. High School Seniors and recent graduates as well as College Seniors and recent Alumni are especially invited to attend the event on November 13, 2021 from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM at Riverbank State Park in Harlem. The day will include interactive workshops on college admissions, applying for financial aid, researching scholarships, finding the right college, preparing for the first year in college, as well as meeting with HBCU representatives, some of which will provide on-site admissions, fee waivers, and scholarship awards. NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies Internships

The NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) offers a limited number of internship opportunities to high school and undergraduate students. Many student internships at NASA GISS are part of the year-round Climate Change Research Initiative (CCRI). Teams of high school and undergraduate students and faculty work alongside graduate students and the lead scientists of NASA-funded research projects at universities in the New York City metropolitan region or NASA/GISS under the mentorship of a GISS scientist. Access to New York State Aid for Undocumented Students and the New York State Dream Act

The NYS Statewide Language Regional Bilingual Education Resource Network and UnLocal are offering a workshop on November 16, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM, the session will also be offered in Spanish on November 18, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM. This workshop will provide important information on the history of the New York State Dream Act (NYSDA), eligibility requirements, application process, and additional resources for undocumented students. The NYSDA allows the NYS immigrant community the ability to apply for state financial aid to attend a State University of New York (SUNY) or City University of New York (CUNY). Registration is now open.
