Addressing Chronic Absenteeism Brief

Guidance for Nonprofits Regarding Immigration Enforcement

New York Lawyers for the Public Interest and Lawyers Alliance for New York have issued an updated guidance to nonprofits outlining best practices for assisting and protecting immigrant clients amidst heightened immigration enforcement under the incoming second Trump administration. This guide provides practical advice on how to deal with specific scenarios and background on key issue areas, including: What happens if ICE comes to your nonprofit? How can nonprofits manage staff and clients during an immigration enforcement action? What should nonprofits do if they receive an ICE subpoena? Read the full guide on the NYLPI website. Call for Chapter Proposals: Current Issues in Out of School Time Book Series

The editorial team of the latest book in the Current Issues in Out of School Time Book Series is seeking chapter proposals. The 9th book in this series, titled Resilient Futures: Addressing Collective Trauma and Marginalization in Out-of-School Time Spaces looks to explore how youth and practitioners are addressing the collective trauma and opportunity facing this generation of young people. Topics of interest include: the role of out-of-school time learning in a post-pandemic world, co-creating nurturing and protected spaces for youth voice and youth development, navigating postsecondary options for various groups of youth, and systems change in out of school time, youth development and afterschool spaces. All proposals should be submitted via email (resilientfuturesostseries@gmail.com) by January 31, 2025review the specific submission guidelines on their Call for Proposals page.
