First Sentier Foundation Scholarship Program

The First Sentier Foundation and Scholarship America have launched a scholarship program to assist current undergraduate sophomores who plan to continue college at a 4-year college in New York City for the upcoming academic year with an interest in the financial services industry. Full eligibility criteria, including the list of eligible majors, and a list of application materials can be found on the website. Apply online by the deadline of May 20, 2025 at 3:00 PM C.T.

Reel Works Summer Filmmaking Workshops

Reel Works’ free filmmaking and workforce readiness workshops support and prepare New York City youth with essential insights and skills needed to make their films or work in the media industry. Reel Works students receive hands-on training, learn from professional filmmakers, and use professional equipment to make festival-worthy films. Currently, Reel Works is highlighting four upcoming opportunities: The Dual Language Doc Lab, a 5 week documentary workshop taught in English and Spanish for bilingual youth ages 15-20; Intro to Broadcast Journalism, a 5 week hands-on broadcast journalism workshop for participants ages 16-19; Supported Experimental Lab, a 4 week experimental filmmaking workshop for neurodivergent participants ages 15-21; and Animation Lab, a 5 week 2D & 3D animation workshop for participants ages 14-19. All programs have an application deadline of May 18, 2025 and you can reach out to mariam@reelworks.org with any questions.

Connection Corner (Free Teen Support Group) with NAMI-NYC

NAMI-NYC has launched a virtual teen support group, Connection Corner. This support group is for teens ages 14-18 living with mental health challenges, facilitated by near peers (someone close in age with lived experience with mental illness). This group is a safe space to develop coping skills, share common experiences, build self-advocacy skills, and connect with others who truly understand. This group is offered at two different timeslots every Thursday: join an afternoon session from 4:00 - 5:00 PM or an evening session from 5:30 - 6:30 PM. Baruch STEP Academy Summer Programs

Do you know a middle or high school student with an interest in STEM? Encourage them to apply for Baruch STEP Academy’s summer enrichment and research-based opportunities, taking place July 7, 2025 to July 31, 2025 (Mondays through Thursdays) from 9:30 AM - 2:00 PM. Through the STEP Academy Middle School Program, rising 7th and 8th graders can choose between engineering and urban ecology courses. Through the STEP Academy High School Program, rising 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders can participate in anatomy & physiology, behavioral neuroscience, biomedical research & disease mechanisms, coding, environmental sustainability, or social psychology programming. Read the course descriptions on this informational flyer – students can submit online applications by the priority deadline (May 1, 2025) or the general deadline (May 15, 2025).

Prom Attire Giveaway with Queens Public Library

Do you know a young person looking for prom attire this Spring? Queens Public Library’s Prom Attire Giveaway is just around the corner. The Giveaway Event will take place on April 12, 2025 from 10:30 AM – 4:30 PM at the Cambria Heights Library and during individual one-hour appointments throughout that following week (April 14, 2025 to April 18, 2025). Check out this flyer for more information and sign up for individual appointments using this online form.
