Department of Youth and Community Development recently released a Negotiated Acquisition Solicitation for Neighborhood Youth Team Sports Grant (EPIN 26025N0121). The Neighborhood Youth Team Sports Grant will provide opportunities for youth in under-resourced communities to learn and participate in team sports activities. This grant may fund educational instruction or upgrading of equipment and facilities to prepare and/or enable youth to participate in team sports. This opportunity is available to eligible non-DYCD providers in addition to DYCD providers that do not have youth service contracts. Providers who are interested in applying to this opportunity can access the solicitation document via the PASSPort Public Portal. In order to submit a proposal, you must be enrolled in Passport (NYC's contracting system) and be prequalified for Human Services contracts on the HHS Prequalification list as a non-profit organization - learn how to do that here.

New York Lawyers for the Public Interest and Lawyers Alliance for New York are partnering with the Human Services Council to a host a virtual training and discussion for nonprofit leaders on Nonprofit Preparedness Regarding Immigration Enforcement on January 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30PM. An expert panel of attorneys and nonprofit leaders will review legal questions and scenarios, discuss practical considerations, and provide valuable insight on best practices. This training is designed for nonprofit executive directors, program managers, general counsels, advocacy leads, and others tasked with setting policy within their organizations. This January, the CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) Youth Studies program invites you to a transformative virtual event series on youth and community organizing. Curated and hosted by Professor Lumumba Bandele, this series highlights the power of youth-led movements through thought-provoking films and dynamic conversations. The remaining events in this series include a screening of the film Following Harry on January 15, 2025 at 6:00 PM and a panel discussion on economic justice featuring youth organizers on January 22, 2025 at 6:00 PM. The New York City Bar Association is accepting applications for the Thurgood Marshall Summer Law Internship Program, which was created to strengthen the pipeline to the legal profession. This 6-8 week paid, intensive internship program places New York City high school students with legal employers, including law firms, corporations, nonprofits, and government organizations. Students also participate in workshops. Learn more about the opportunity through their informational brochure.
