From the Sector, For the Sector: Investing in the Workforce to Sustain and Expand Youth Services in NYC captures recommendations from the Collaborative for Advancing Youth Development’s 2026 State of the Sector Convening. Hundreds of youth development professionals gathered to identify what it takes to build a workforce that can thrive—from investing in staff growth and career pathways to strengthening education, credentials, and funding structures. The report highlights both the strengths of the sector and the challenges facing youth workers, offering recommendations to build a more sustainable, equitable youth development sector. Listen4Good is offering a free capacity-building opportunity to help local nonprofits strengthen how they gather, analyze, and act on feedback from the people at the heart of their work. Sponsorships will be available for nonprofits to join Listen4Good’s feedback program at no cost. The Morgan Stanley Finance Academy is a highly selective five-month virtual career development program from November 2026 - March 2027 for current high school seniors across the United States. Through skill-building sessions, mentorship, and exposure to professionals across Morgan Stanley, students will gain insight into finance careers and how to prepare for success in the industry and expand their network. In addition to live virtual sessions, participants will have an opportunity to collaborate on a project competition to pitch to a Morgan Stanley client. Pickleball Stars, a new Brooklyn-based after-school enrichment program founded by Laura Moreno and Anthony Rodriguez, is bringing pickleball to elementary school students across New York City. The programs introduce kids to pickleball through fun, high-energy sessions designed for all skill levels. Beyond learning serves, rallies, and the fundamentals of the game, kids build confidence, coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a love of being active. Pickleball Stars is growing and excited to connect with more schools, after-school providers, and youth organizations across New York City. Coaches, paddles, nets, balls, curriculum, and energy are provided — partners recruit the kids and provide the space. Programs can be adapted for different ages, group sizes, and facilities.
