Design Fair | Meet the Designers

Cooper Hewitt is inviting teens, college students, and emerging designers to learn about the many shapes design careers can take from National Design Award (NDA) winners and guest designers from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM on October 13, 2020 at their Meet the Designers event. This event will be held virtually. Participants will be able to speak with a total of four designers in small breakout rooms during this program.

Youth Action Council

The Osborne Association Youth Action Council provides youth between the ages of 15-18 who have a parent in prison or who just came home with a fun and challenging experience that will allow them to become a leader in their community. Online History School

The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History is offering free courses this fall for elementary, middle, and high school students through their Online History School. Each course includes presentations, hosted live on Zoom, exploring topics relating to Hamilton and the Founding Era, AP United States History, the history of voting rights, and women who made history. Sign-up is open and students can begin taking courses as early as the first week of October.

The Wallace Foundation has released a newly upgraded StrongNonprofits Toolkit. The site now contains more than 60 free tools, articles, reports and other resources to help nonprofit organizations improve their financial health. Resources include a nonprofit accounting guide, information on growth strategies, a podcast on how to understand the true cost of programming and much more.

Fundamentals of Community Leadership Series

Queens Public Library is launching their Fundamentals of Community Leadership series, a 5-part civic engagement workshop series to enhance your leadership, planning and communication skills; improve how you work with others; and transform you into a strong community advocate. The first session, Leadership 101: What Type of (Community) Leader Are You?, takes place on October 8, 2020 from 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM.
