2021-2026 Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Program Competitive Grant Application

New York State Education Department has posted an RFP for competitive funding for the Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Program. Please see the RFP and appendix documents for details on eligibility and submitting a proposal. Written questions will be accepted by email until the end of business on February 10, 2021. Instructions for submission to this grant can be also be accessed through this portal.

Youth and their families are invited to join SUNY for Which SUNY Are You?, an online group information session. Participants will have the opportunity to explore The State University of New York campuses, academic programs, application and admissions process, financial assistance, the Excelsior Scholarship and more. 2021 Summer Innovation Fellowship

National Summer Learning Association (NSLA) is launching a new Summer Innovation Fellowship for leaders of color which will offer $25,000 towards implementing an in-person, virtual or hybrid summer learning program. Winners will also receive a personal NSLA Coach to work with them regularly in their planning, access to NSLA tools, resources, and convenings to support their work, and mentoring opportunities with experienced role models and leaders in the field. Applicants should be sponsored by or apply in conjunction with a fiscal sponsor such as school district, nonprofit or government agency. To apply for this Fellowship, complete the online application by February 12, 2021.

Activists x Academics Summit

Join Teens Take Charge and the UCLA Civil Rights Project on February 13, 2021 from 11:00 AM - 5:30 PM for a virtual national summit focused on racial justice in K-12 public schools. Planned by youth for a broad national audience, come learn directly from youth activists on the ground and adult leaders who have been fighting for school equity for years. Registration is free for youth and "pay what you want" for adults.

The New York Civil Liberties Union is launching What Teens Need to Know: A Guide to Health Care and the Law, a resource for adolescents across New York State. In New York State, minors have the right to access certain health care services confidentially (without parental consent). However, many young people, as well as those who work with them are unaware of the services that minors are able to access. The goal of this website is to provide this incredibly important information so that young people are able to make informed decisions about their health.

Reviving Radical Youth Community Listening Session

As a part of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York's (PPGNY) Reviving Radical work, they are hosting a community listening session for youth. The purpose of this session is to hear directly from young people about what PPGNY can do to reckon with the legacy of their founder, center community voice and build accountable relationships with communities of color.
