Youth Food Advocates 2021-2022

The Youth Food Advocates (YFA) 2021-2022 application is now open. YFA is a youth-led group for young people to learn about social justice, public policy and advocacy, and to create systemic change in NYC food systems, with a focus on improving school food. Youth will work in a fun and collaborative environment with other young people from across the City. Members develop advocacy skills through hands-on actions, learn valuable leadership skills, and create meaningful change for food justice across the NYC public school food program. YFA Member meetings will take place on Wednesdays from September 2021 - June 2022. Applications are now being accepted.

NYPD 28th Precinct invites young people to attend their HBCU College Fair held in Harlem on St. Nicholas Avenue between West 122 and West 123 Street on June 5, 2021 from 12:00PM - 4:00PM. #CollegeForAllFair

The #CollegeForAllFair is a unique, virtual national college fair that will feature colleges and universities that are committed to access and equity. The fair is being crafted with a focus on first generation students, as well as students from low-income households. In addition to colleges and universities exhibiting, they will also have daily webinars on important topics in the college admissions process. Learn more about the initiative on their website. The fair will take place from June 14 - 19, 2021. Registration is now open.

Summer Rising STEM Program Guide

The NYC STEM Education Network has compiled a Summer Rising STEM Program Guide to assist Principals and CBO Site Directors as they plan for Summer Rising. The Program Guide includes enrichment programs, field trips, professional development, curriculum, and other opportunities for students and educators in all grade levels. Brooklyn Community Foundation Spark Prize

The Brooklyn Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the Spark Prize. In total, they will distribute $600,000 to honor the work of values-driven Brooklyn nonprofits that have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing racial justice in our borough and have a dynamic vision for the future of their organization. Finalists will be notified in October 2021, and winners will be announced in early January 2022. Applications must be submitted before June 25, 2021.
