Apex for Youth's National Mentoring Program

Apex for Youth, an organization that serves Asian and immigrant youth, is currently accepting applications from high school students for their first-ever National Virtual Mentoring Program. Through this online program, Apex will pair high school youth with adult volunteers in one-on-one virtual mentoring relationships. The program also includes virtual group workshops that address themes like identity, community belonging, college/career readiness, and more. High school students can apply to be mentees by October 21, 2022. Please send any questions to jonathan.chang@apexforyouth.org.

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans program honors the contributions of immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States. Each year, they invest in the graduate education of 30 New Americans, immigrants and children of immigrants, who are poised to make significant contributions to US society, culture, or their academic field. Each Fellow receives up to $90,000 in financial support over two years, and joins a lifelong community of New American Fellows. Applications are due by October 27, 2022.

Financial Aid for College: High School Toolkit

The Education Trust—New York, in partnership with organizations across the state, released the Financial Aid for College: High School Toolkit to help students access financial aid for college. This year’s graduating seniors have spent all of their high school years learning during a global pandemic, forcing them to navigate shifts from remote learning to hybrid to in-person instruction. Helping students access financial aid for college is one crucial way to support the Class of 2023 in their postsecondary transitions.

BigFuture New York Scholarships

Each month, BigFuture will award four $10,000 scholarships to New York State students. All sophomores and juniors attending a school in New York are eligible. Complete their Career Quiz by November 30, 2022 to qualify. Go to their website to learn more.

Career & College Week

The Boys Club of New York is hosting a Career & College Week from October 17, 2022 - October 21, 2022. They will offer Zoom sessions every day that week from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, covering topics that will provide participants with tools and resources around writing admissions essays, college interview skills, landing internships, and utilizing sports as a pathway to college. Getting Started: Submitting the HHS Prequalification Application

The Mayor’s Office of Contract Services is offering a PASSPort vendor webinar on October 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. This training will be most helpful for nonprofit organizations who need an approved Health and Human Services Prequalification Application to respond to human services solicitations in PASSPort and for City Council Discretionary Award clearance.
