Bringing the Drama! Using Performance to Bring History to Life

Join the Intrepid Museum for a day of drama, performance, and space-history come to life on November 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM. See a first-person performance about champion aviator Betty Skelton, the first woman to undergo the physical and psychological tests of NASA’s Mercury 7 astronauts. The teaching artist who created the performance will break down the process for interpreting historical people and events and then wil give attendees a chance to try the skills. Teens/youth under the age of 16 must attend with an adult chaperone. Registration is now open.

Effective Leadership Techniques 101

Community Leaders and Organizers share similar characteristics and traits that allow them to inspire and mobilize others towards definitive actions to improve their communities. Queens Public Library's Effective Leadership Techniques 101 online workshop will explore these transferable leadership skills and practices on January 17, 2023 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. This workshop will support you to strengthen how you work and collaborate with others (co-workers, peers, teammates, etc.). Registration is now open.

Neuroscience and Mindfulness: Teaching and Facilitation as a Practice

Join Narrative 4 on November 16, 2022 at 7:00 PM for their virtual workshop, Neuroscience and Mindfulness: Teaching and Facilitation as a Practice. Through the teachings of Trauma Sensitive Mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, and current findings in Neuroscience, this session will explore the unpredictable nature of emotions and how to navigate challenges in the classroom and in relationships by choosing skillful responses, rather than defaulting to habitual reactivity. Participants will learn tools to calm the nervous system and foster the possibility for joyful connection. Registration is now open.

School-Aged Childcare Credential Course

Teachable NYC's School-Aged Childcare Credential Course is an in-depth study of competency standards that reflect best practices in after-school programs. The Winter 2022/2023 course session is coming up on Tuesdays and Thursdays in December and January, virtually on Zoom. This course is specifically designed for individuals currently employed in school age childcare programs. In addition to learning about best practices for nurturing children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth, participants will learn about designing and managing a safe, healthy, and enriching learning environment.
