Aidan Davis

Statement Arts

Aidan Davis is the Associate Director of Statement Arts, a nonprofit that provides arts education and performance opportunities to youth from underrepresented and historically under-resourced communities. As a voice teacher and music director who found his own sense of belonging through the arts, Aidan applies his skills to nurture the artists of tomorrow.

Aidan grew up in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. He was drawn to music and theater but found limited options to flex his creative muscles in his small town, outside of church choirs and shows. After high school, Aidan left Lewisburg and studied Voice Performance/Church Music/Music Theory & Composition at Indiana Wesleyan University.  He pursued graduate education in Vocal Performance at the Cleveland Institute of Music before attending Penn State’s Voice Performance and Pedagogy program and completing his Master’s of Music.

Aidan moved to New York City, auditioning nonstop for shows and waiting tables between gigs, but he began to feel that this was not providing the energy, creativity, or inspiration he sought. Craving a more community-based avenue of artistic expression, he applied to work at community arts schools. Garden Street School for the Performing Arts hired him as a voice teacher, and he fell in love with guiding students to build confidence and discover their authentic voices through theater.

Later, Aidan was invited to music direct a student production at Renaissance School of the Arts in the Bronx. Following this successful production, he became a full-time music teacher at Northside Charter High School, developing a robust music program while leading music and voice lessons, music directing student shows, and mentoring students. He witnessed the struggle faced by arts educators to build and expand meaningful programming amid decreasing budgets, and became an advocate for investment in arts education.

After Northside, Aidan began at Statement Arts, where he oversees programs including StART Dreaming, which equips high school juniors who want to go to theater school with audition pieces and tapes, professional headshots, master classes, and vocal lessons. Aidan also manages the StART Young Summer Music & Theater program, a free performing arts camp for youth interested in acting, singing, and dancing, culminating in a show written and performed by students.

Aidan has recorded with Grammy-winning composers and coached Broadway singers, and his productions have been mentioned in The New York Times, NY Post, and Broadway World. He has also appeared off-Broadway in productions including Rent, Footloose, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, The Marriage of Figaro, and The Magic Flute, and television shows like Smash and Royal Pains. Aidan is a founding member of Rooftop Musical Society, a theatrical company that produces shows in immersive, non-traditional settings. He and his fiancée are the proud owners of VERS, a gay cocktail bar spotlighting local queer entertainers.

Aidan’s ability to engage students with compassion and nourish creativity as a form of social-emotional growth and his commitment to supporting the next generation of creative changemakers represent the best of arts education and afterschool programming.
