
Anthony Simmons

Anthony Simmons brings two decades of experience in philanthropy and nonprofits, having worked for the Children’s Aid Society, the Schott Foundation for Public Education, the New York City Mayor’s Office, the Association for Black Foundation Executives (ABFE), and, most recently, Resilia, a social impact and SaaS company whose mission is to strengthen the capacity of nonprofits.
He currently serves as the Chair Emeritus of the Board of Directors for Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy (EPIP), a national network of changemakers who strive for excellence and equity in the practice of philanthropy. He also serves on the Board of the Center for Racial Justice in Education whose mission is to train and empower educators to dismantle patterns of racism and injustice in our schools and communities; Everyday Democracy, a capacity building organization that provides technical assistance to individuals and groups working to build multiracial democracies within their local communities; and the Penn Center (South Carolina), a National Historic Landmark District, a UNESCO Network of Places of History and Memory, and the first school in the US South for formerly enslaved West Africans.
A native of the Bronx, NY and the famed Sedgwick Avenue (aka Hip Hop Boulevard), Anthony is also a professional DJ having worked with recording artists such as The Fugees and Wordsworth of the Lyricist Lounge. Under the moniker DJ Tony Tantrum, he hosts The Giveback, a 14-year-old networking mixer for professionals in nonprofit and philanthropy. Anthony resides in Brooklyn, NY with his wife, Nicole.
