Building Community Schools: A Guide for Action is a book written and published by The Children’s Aid Society’s National Center for Community School that documents key lessons from 20 years of implementation of community schools in New York City and nationally. The book includes sections on the research base that undergirds this strategy as well as on results to date, which include improvements in academic achievement, student and teacher attendance, school climate, school safety and engagement of families and students. The book was sponsored by the MetLife Foundation.
