The New York Civil Liberties Union and the Student Safety Coalition recently released a report analyzing the last 10 years of previously undisclosed suspension data from New York City schools. This report, Education Interrupted: The Growing Use of Suspensions in New York City’s Public Schools, shows a dramatic spike in the number of student suspensions, disproportionately affecting students of color and students with disabilities.
