Rooted in Care: Supporting Vulnerable Youth in Afterschool Programs

June 16, 2025 9:30 am to 12:00 pm

Join us in person on Monday, June 16th for a Symposium focusing on how to better meet the evolving needs of students and communities we serve

In order to register for this event you need to or first.

Event Description

Afterschool professionals play a critical role in helping young people feel safe, connected, and supported – especially those facing significant stress and instability.  From students in immigrant families, to those navigating family crises, facing housing insecurity, or parental job loss, many young people are experiencing heightened uncertainty and emotional strain. Afterschool programs are uniquely positioned to serve as stable, welcoming spaces where students and families feel seen, supported, and empowered.

This half day symposium brings together afterschool leaders, supervisors, and direct service staff committed to fostering affirming, inclusive environments for traditionally vulnerable youth.  Together, we’ll explore how to strengthen relationships, promote emotional well-being, and better meet the evolving needs of students and communities we serve.
