Dollar General Afterschool Literacy Award

The Afterschool Alliance and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation are seeking nominations for afterschool programs that have excelled in providing literacy support to middle school students to receive $10,000 in the first ever Dollar General Afterschool Literacy Award. The award seeks afterschool programs with demonstrated success improving the literacy skills—including reading, writing and comprehension—of middle school program participants to serve as examples of the power of the out-of-school space. Program staff and directors are allowed and encouraged to nominate their own program, but nominators can also be unaffiliated with the program. The nomination deadline is August 15, 2014.
