Workshop for Educators and Staff Working with Middle School Youth

#trending is a middle school resource that is fun and engaging for youth, easy-to-use for staff, and supports literacy and SEL skills. Since its launch last year, nearly 50 community-based organizations throughout the city have started using #trending. Staff members say it prompts great discussions. Young people who participate want to read and write. And 98% of the staff who took the half-day training said that it strengthened their youth development skills. #trending is based on 36 true stories by New York City teenagers—all created in Youth Communication's in-house, rigorous teen writing program. Topics include friendship, identity, managing difficult emotions, and more. Visit the YC's website to view a table of contents from the Curriculum Guide and to learn more about the October 5, 2017 workshop on how to use the curriculum.

PASE believes all kids deserve a safe, nurturing space during out-of-school time where they have opportunities to explore their passions while connecting with and learning from caring adults. We exist to improve the quality of afterschool programs for children and teens living in poverty.
