​Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) Ladders for Leaders Request for Proposals funding

The Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) has released the Summer Youth Employment Programs (SYEP) Ladders for Leaders Request for Proposal (RFP) through the HHS Accelerator system. DYCD is seeking organizations to administer the Ladders for Leaders (paid internships) service option of SYEP. Contractors will provide intensive work readiness training to high school or college youth, ages 16-22, who have prior work experience, either paid or volunteer. It is anticipated that the contract term will be from January 4, 2016 - January 3, 2019. A pre-proposal conference will be held on August 19, 2015 at 2:00 pm at 2 Lafayette Street, 14th Floor Auditorium, New York, NY 10007. The RFP is due September 17, 2015 at 2:00 pm via the HHS Accelerator system.

Afterschool Alliance invites out-of-school time programs to apply for a grant opportunity from New York Life Foundation, to support and bolster the ability of afterschool and summer learning programs to help prepare middle school students for success in high school, college, and life. Funding is now available from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services for Child Care Stabilization Grants. The goal of the Child Care Stabilization Grant is to provide financial relief to child care providers to help cover unexpected business costs associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and to help stabilize their operations so they may continue to provide care. The deadline to apply is November 30, 2021.

Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund

Communities of Color Nonprofit Stabilization Fund is now accepting applications for grants of up to $45,000 for Black, Latino, and Asian-led community-based organizations throughout New York City whose budgets are between $150,000 and $2 million. Go to their website to learn more about organization eligibility, evaluation criteria, and how funds are awarded. The deadline to apply is October 22, 2021 at 5:00 PM.

Brooklyn Community Foundation Spark Prize

The Brooklyn Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the Spark Prize. In total, they will distribute $600,000 to honor the work of values-driven Brooklyn nonprofits that have demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing racial justice in our borough and have a dynamic vision for the future of their organization. Finalists will be notified in October 2021, and winners will be announced in early January 2022. Applications must be submitted before June 25, 2021.

AFD Foundation Grant Opportunity

The AFD Foundation's 2021 Community Improvement Grants program supports organizations working to improve the quality of services for young people ages 5 to 25 in all five boroughs of New York City. The program will offer 15 organizations a 3-year $1,000,000 grant. Organizations that apply will be immediately considered eligible based on the foundation's radical trust initiative. Grantees will then be randomly selected through a lottery drawing that will take place on May 1,2021. To apply simply submit your email address.

SparkYouth NYC RFP

SparkYouth NYC is soliciting proposals for participation in its 9th cohort. The cohort's funding and participation will run from 2022 through 2024. Selected organizations receive both a multi-year investment and a comprehensive nonprofit management curriculum to encourage programs and their leadership to invest in the future by hiring and developing staff, increasing program capacity, improving facilities and deepening support for NYC youth. Applications are due by March 12, 2021, and decisions will be made this summer.

2021-2026 Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Program Competitive Grant Application

New York State Education Department has posted an RFP for competitive funding for the Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Program. Please see the RFP and appendix documents for details on eligibility and submitting a proposal. Written questions will be accepted by email until the end of business on February 10, 2021. Instructions for submission to this grant can be also be accessed through this portal.

Youth Service Improvement Grants

William T. Grant Foundation's Youth Service Improvement Grants (YSIG) program supports activities to improve the quality of direct services for young people ages 5 to 25 in the five boroughs of New York City. The goal is to strengthen existing services by helping youth-serving nonprofit organizations address challenges or remedy problems at the point of service, where staff and youth interact. Awards are $25,000 each and support projects lasting one year, starting on September 1, 2021. Applications are due March 11, 2021 at 3:00 PM. The David Prize

The David Prize will award $200,000 to the five best ideas to improve New York City, with funding from the Brooklyn-based Walentas Family Foundation. Past recipients include a housing assistance program envisioned by an LGBTQ activist, jobs support for immigrant day laborers in Queens, and efforts to build NYCHA anew through more composting. Applications and nominations will be accepted through January 1, 2021.

Honnold Foundation Community Fund

The Honnold Foundation’s Community Fund supports solar PV installations for community-based nonprofits with Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) leadership in the most polluted places in the United States. Community Fund grant recipients will receive funding for the installation of a solar PV system on or near their building. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Learn more and apply.
