Educator Prep Sessions with Hip Hop Public Health

Are you a health educator looking for engaging health education content, community, and inspiration? Join Hip Hop Public Health on the first Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM EST for a free, 45-minute Prep Session highlighting tools and tips to use in your classroom. Hip Hop Public Health creates research based and standards-aligned educational resources by harnessing the power of music and culture to improve health in communities that are underserved. Prep Sessions will include walkthroughs of ready-to-use toolkits, tips for all grade levels, and insights from guest educators and experts. Learn more and register for an upcoming session.

Service-Learning Resources from National Youth Leadership Council

Are you considering incorporating service learning into your 2025-26 afterschool offerings? The National Youth Leadership Council has curriculum and guides tailored towards leading service-learning initiatives in afterschool learning environments. Head to NYLC’s Resource Library to view their Engage Service-Learning Handbook series, with each edition tailored to a different developmental period: 1. ages 9-11, 2. ages 12-13, and 3. ages 14-18. Each handbook provides a series of 15-20 developmentally appropriate one-hour lesson plans that guide a group through a service-learning process. Check out the broader Resource Library to find other resources for afterschool and out-of-school time providers, including topic-based guides. Note that you will have to provide an email address to view and download resources.

Research Study on Parents and Special Education Processes through Fordham University

Are you the parent or guardian of a child who currently receives special education services in a New York City public school, or do you know others who are? A PhD student in School Psychology at Fordham University is conducting a brief, anonymous 10–15-minute research study to better understand what families know about their special education rights, like the IEP process, mediation, and due process hearings. Participants can enter a raffle to win one of five $20 gift cards. This study has been reviewed and approved by Fordham University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB).
