Tech Kids Unlimited Programs

Tech Kids Unlimited (TKU) is a NYC-based not-for-profit organization that teaches computer science thinking and technology to kids who learn differently. Their mission is to open up the field of technology to students with disabilities, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) to help them become the techies of tomorrow. Future Game Designers

Future Game Designers is an intensive, hands-on 14-week workshop designed to introduce talented high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors to the process of digital game development and the game industry. The program is free to participants and will take place at the NYU Game Center's facilities in Downtown Brooklyn. Applications are due by November 15, 2019 at 5:00pm.

The College Completion Innovation Fund

Graduate NYC is hosting an informational webinar on November 20, 2019 at 2:00pm about their upcoming funding cycle and how the College Completion Innovation Fund can support work around ensuring that more students earn their college degrees. They will be joined by design thinking experts from Education Design Lab who will provide a brief introduction to the organization's student-centered frameworks.

Lobbying and Electoral Activity Training

HSC, Candid, New York Lawyers for the Public Interest, and Nonprofit New York are hosting a lobbying training on November 7, 2019 from 2:30pm to 5:00pm. This training covers the nuts and bolts of the City and State lobby laws, including recent updates, what constitutes lobbying, and when and how lobbying should be reported. Find out whether your organization has engaged in "lobbying activity" and, if so, what you need to do comply with the law. Registration is open.

2019 State of the Field Conference

Collaborative for Advancing Youth Development's 2019 State of the Field Conference focused on Youth Participation in NYC takes place December 10, 2019 from 9:00am-4:00pm. The conference will explore the possibilities that emerge when our city combines decades of deep-rooted community-youth development work, a rich civic ecosystem, and a rights-based approach to youth participation. NYS Transition Partners

NYS Transition Partners will award four $2,500 grants to NYS initiatives assisting young people with disabilities navigate the transition to adulthood. Prospective non-profits will have projects that include young people and parents in the project planning process and support families through the transition process. Any questions about the RFP may be submitted by email to Nancy Campbell at nsc@parentnetworkwny.org by November 5, 2019. Submissions are due December 6, 2019 by 5:00pm.

Toolkit for Undocumented Students - CARA

CARA has created a toolkit to help undocumented students realize their college dreams by presenting new ways to look at the college application process. It includes information about new resources such as the Senator José Peralta New York State DREAM Act, which was passed during the development of the toolkit. Educators, counselors, undocu-friendly organizations, parent(s)/guardian(s), and other young people can use the toolkit to support undocumented students in pursuing higher education.
