Aliza Sarian

TYTHEdesign

Calgary-based Aliza Sarian was an arts educator in New York City public schools for 14 years before becoming TYTHEdesign’s Lead Curriculum Specialist. In addition to facilitating community engagement and facilitation workshops, developing resources, and coaching youth program designers, Aliza has experience as a K-12 theatre instructor and working with NYC Public Schools–developing assessments, designing curricula, and facilitating professional development–Disney Theatrical Group, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and the University of the Arts in Singapore. Since relocating to Calgary, AB in 2020, Aliza has collaborated with the Theatrical Arts Education Association, Theatre Calgary, Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Separate School District, and more. Additionally, she has been a faculty member at New York University and Hunter and Manhattanville Colleges. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Theatre Arts from Appalachian State University and a master’s in Educational Theatre from NYU. She is a founding member of the collective impact group, TYA | YYC, committed to leveraging Calgary’s arts community to reinvigorate theatre for young audiences across the city.
